Prep cook
Viridian is a craft cocktail bar located in Uptown Oakland offering contemporary small dishes and desserts inspired by the Asian American experience. We are run by former SF and Oakland fine-dining and craft cocktail veterans, with resumes that include Lazy Bear, Hakkasan, Noodle Theory, Hopscotch, Shinmai, Mina Group, True Laurel, Moongate Lounge, and more.
Our team is fun and friendly, yet also hard-working and conscientious about providing the best experience we can for our guests. We are passionate about culinary and produce-driven drinks and food.
We are looking for a hybrid role, someone who would like to take on prep as well as possible evening chef duties, with a minimum of one-year industry experience (fine-dining experience preferred). This is a full-time position, minimum 5 days a week. We would also ask that you be flexible to work mornings, days, and/or evenings as needed.
Skills and Qualifications:
• Minimum one-year experience and/or culinary degree
• Ability to learn quickly
• Ability to work in a standing position for long periods of time
• Ability to lift 35 pounds or more up and down stairs
• Basic math skills for scaling and ratios
The ideal candidate will:
• Be a respectful and attentive team player
• Maintain a sense of urgency, working cleanly in an organized manner
• Have clear communication skills and high attention to detail
• Possess a strong work ethic and true eagerness to learn
This is a hybrid position in which the Prep Cook may be doing production for both savory and pastry. Pay will be commensurate with experience. Current Food Handlers or ServSafe card is required.
